What visitors have said about Caserma Carina Country House

I've read the previous reviews on Tripadvisor, and they are spot on. This is a 5 star place. Lesley and Dean have created a really comfortable and beautiful place to stay. This is an off-the-beaten track part of Italy - yet you are only 30 mins from the beach, and 30 mins from the hills! All those little things that make the stay easy - from kitchen bits and bobs (so you don't have to buy them) to the help and support they give you in finding the best places in the local area, make it easy to experience Le Marche. And, if you just spent your week round the pool, the views of the Monte Sibilini are sensational. All in all, they work hard to give you everything you need to find a true break and experience La Dolce Vita!

We had the most wonderful week in Caserma Carina staying in apartment Girasole. From the moment we were arrived and were greeted by Leslie we were made to feel welcome and at home. The apartments and grounds are kept to such a high standard and Dean and Leslie work so hard to keep everywhere looking spotless. Both Dean and Leslie were always on hand to give us suggestions of places to visit or eat, which were always perfect and really suited to our family. Our daughter who's 3 absolutely loved being at the apartment and every morning would wander out to have a chat with Dean and Leslie, who were so brilliant with her and allowing her to share all of Gracie's toys. You must to on the wine tasting evening organised by Dean, it's amazing value and real fun. It also gets you chatting more to the other people staying in the apartments, and Dean was a fabulous host for the evening. I can't recommend these apartments enough, not only for a wonderful location but the holiday really is made wonderful by the hospitality of Leslie, Dean and Grace. Our daughter Freya still mentions the holiday now and misses her morning chats with Dean. So my advice, don't hesitate, just book now!

We visited Caserma Carina in June this year and had the most amazing time. This was our first trip back to Italy after having our two children and we could not have found a more perfect place to stay. As soon as we jumped out of the car we could not have asked for a more lovely welcome from Dean, Lesley and Grace (not forgetting Marley) and that's without the most stunning views and beautiful surroundings. Our apartment Girasole was perfect for a toddler and the pool being gated off was great as the children could be in the garden without any danger. We loved the area as it was the real Italy and Dean and Lesley gave us some great tips so we could enjoy the local specialities and area to the full. We did not have time to do everything we wanted to in a week so we booked again for next year, something that we have never done anywhere before! We were truly impressed by the care and attention that Dean and Lesley gave to keeping everything clean and tidy with the result that everything looked perfect every day. Even with two children under five we felt that we had a very relaxing holiday! A fantastic location, beautiful surroundings/ apartment and wonderful hosts we cannot praise Caserma Carina highly enough!

Myself and my husband stayed at Caserma Carina with our 7 month old daugher, and my sisters family with her 13 month old daughter. The holiday could not have been better (apart from a week being too short) The ground floor 2 bed accomodation was perfect for our group, very safe for a toddler and quiet and cool in the warm heat. we had all we needed in terms of baby equipment including a sizeable collection of suitable toys and books. The pool and facilities were excellent and many a day was spent simply relaxing and playing in the beautifully groomed and well shaded garden. The patio was perfect for BBQ's and breakfast complete with shaded umbrellas. The hospitality and knowledge provided by Lesley and Dean and their georgeous daughter Grace was second to none, they were so generous with their time, giving out advise, directions, recommendations - whatever required, where requested. As for the ready supply of wines and cool beers - well it was just the icing on the cake! I wish them all the best and definately hope to be back in the future.

Caserma Carina is an amazing find - if there was a category for "self catered +", this place would be in it. You have the privacy of your own apartment, in a beautiful old building surrounded by countryside, but with the option of delicious food brought to your door, there's an extensive DVD and book library, and Dean is like a concierge - always on hand to provide you with ideas for outings and give you the low down on local restaurants - even what the best dishes are! It is a really fantastic place to stay with little ones - we spent 3 weeks there with our 8 month old, who learned to crawl in the garden and fell in love with Marley - the owners' very well behaved cocker spaniel (I don't normally like dogs, but he is lovely and used to young children). We were in the ground floor apartment (Girasole) which has two good sized bedrooms and plenty of space. Dean and Lesley (the owners) were great at understanding the needs of a young family - they provided a cot, bedding, baby towels, toys, play mats, baby bath (there is no bath in the apartment), plastic cups and bowls, a high chair, a paddling pool, and also offered us a steriliser and food blender. The kitchen is well equipped - definitely the best we've had in a self-catered place in Italy (no oven - but everthing else you could want, including a dishwasher!), and there are bbqs you can borrow - great for cooking the fish you can buy from the fish van than comes round each Wednesday. The pool now has railings around (it doesn't in the pictures on the website) and there is a lovely lawn - so it's a great, safe environment for babies and toddlers. There are very comfortable sunloungers and parasols as well as a few well placed trees - so lots of shade for little ones (as well as plenty of sunny spots for sunbathing). The owners have a local friend who can babysit, and the same lady can provide fantastic home cooked meals to your apartment. There's also a great local pizza take out place if you don't want to eat out with your little one every night. For anyone reading this who doesn't want to spend their holiday with little ones... don't worry, the garden is big enough, and very well thought out - with sunloungers and eating areas well positioned for privacy and to ensure guests aren't on top of eachother. There is a particularly nice hidden away terrace for romantic eating away from everyone else. Dean and Lesley work tirelessly to maintain the place - I've never seen a swimming pool cleaned so frequently! For anyone wondering about the region - it's great. Similar countryside to Tuscany (perhaps not all of it quite as beautiful), but there is the added bonus of white sandy beaches, with amazing seafood restaurants and also the mountains - and in particular an amazing fresh water lake with turqouise water full of trout and its own little beach. There aren't as many UK tourists as Tuscany, but despite that there are loads of local restaurants which all serve amazing food - we didn't go wrong once in 3 weeks of eating out. A lot of the restaurants don't have menus, so it's a good idea to brush up on basic Italian food vocab - there's a print out of key words in the apartment. There is nothing I would have changed about Caserma Carina!
Babiker,  London,  May 2011

Dean, Leslie and Grace manage to provide the perfect haven for all. The beautiful gardens, and the perfectly maintained pool, the very friendly environment. make this a peice of heaven on earth. Dean and Leslie make everyone seem important, and are on hand (if required) to provide advice and service beyond all expectation. If you are looking for either a tranquil haven, or a base to explore Le Marche, then this is it. The teenagers didn't want to leave, and neither did the adults......Thank you all so much for a wonderful 2 weeks.
Bushbys,  Norway,  Jul 2008

We arrived late on a Saturday night in the middle of a heatwave to be warmly welcomed and instantly made to feel at home. We spent the following week cooling off between the pool, the shade from the tree and the lovely air conditioned apartment. Lesley and Dean were brilliant hosts. They know exactly when to offer help and when to leave you alone. They work incredibly hard at maintaining the beautiful garden and pool. As for the apartments, they were the nicest rental accomodation I've ever stayed in. Spacious, beautifully decorated and well equipped. If you're reading this because you're not sure the reality can match the hype, then believe me when I say it does. I was delighted we went and will definitely go back again.
Leys,  London

Dear Dean & Lesley. As ever a pleasure" You are wonderful hosts who always are so welcoming. It's our 5th visit and won't be the last. See you next year!
Brogdens,  Singapore,  Jul 2010

What an amazing place. Dean and Lesley are so welcoming and it is their sole aim to make your holiday in Marche a really Italian experience. The problem of not knowing where to go and what to do first is completely taken away with Dean and Lesley's extensive knowledge of the area, it's restaurants, the shops and the best places to visit. The apartments are beautifully decorated and spotless. The pool and comfy loungers are just perfect, the drinks fridge in the out-house is great as you can just help yourself to wine, beer or soft drinks whenever you want (as long as you mark it down on the sheet provided). Great DVD library with a good selection of films for all ages. We met three other families whilst we were there and we've all booked for next Summer. My parents have also booked for early next Summer. On day 4 of our holiday I posted the following on Facebook ".... is having a Carlsberg holiday" - think that says it all.
Rawlins,  York,  Aug 2010

We've had a wonderful 2 weeks enhanced immeasurably by the warmest of welcomes from Dean and of course Grace - the girls have had such fun together and expect some letters in the post! This is a seriously professional operation - manicured gardens, spotless apartments, brilliant tips.
Folwells,  St Albans,  Jun 2009

This was our first visit to Marche and the wonderful Caserma Carina. Our second visit will be next year as we booked again before our holiday finished! Our family of four stayed in GIRASOLE, a very spacious, well equipped, beautiful apartment. The apartment was definitely the most comfortable, and immaculately clean, we have stayed in. The scenery, swimming pool and grounds are stunning - something which our holiday snaps don't do justice too! Dean & Lesley are the perfect hosts, always available for tips and information on the local area or just to have a chat with! Their manner is exceedingly welcoming and helped to get the whole family relaxed and in the holiday spirit from the first moment we arrived. You really cannot come away from Caserma Carina without being impressed by the hosts efforts to make your holiday successful. Mogliano and the surrounding area's are lovely and unspoilt. Whilst small, the town has just the right balance of places to eat, drink and shop to satisfy.
Peppers,  Maldon,  Aug 2010

Location, location, location - Mogliano (silent g) nestles in un-spolit Italian countryside with easy access to the lakes in the Sibillini mountains down to the family fun resort restaurants on the Adriatic coast south from Ancona ( we liked Sirolo but there are many to choose from). No expense was spared in restoring Caserma Carina to its former glory and helpful local knowledge from Lesley and Dean along with toys shared by Grace with our two kids really helped make our stay memorable - Thanks ! We stayed in Girasole, the 2 bedroom apartment, which was perfect for a family. Really lovely decor and the pool was right outside our doorway. Beautiful landscaped gardens which have been kept immaculate provide a great vantage point to admire the views of the local countryside and surrounding mountains. It is just so beautiful!!! The drive from Mogliano through Loro Piceno (beautiful views) onto San Ginesio ( real coffee with the locals in a Piazza cafe) and on up into the mountains to Lago del Fiastrone to spin stones on the lake before descending again to Tolentino and a quick walk around and coffee & pastry before returning to Mogliano for pizza supper and bed for two tired out little un's was a highlight. Mogliano itself is a friendly Italian town full of character and the country house we stayed in, Caserma Carina, is in walking distance of the historical town centre. Farmers market on a Tuesday morning is worth a stroll. We can't wait to go back!
